Hearts Not Faces — Support
We're here to help. Most questions are answered below.
The app didn't detect a face in my photo
Tap anywhere on the photo in the detection screen to manually mark any faces that were missed. A box will appear that you can position over the face. All manually added regions are erased the same way as automatically detected ones.
Where are my protected photos saved?
All processed photos are automatically saved to a "Hearts Not Faces" album in your Photos app, regardless of whether you share directly to another app. You can find them there anytime.
Does the app upload my photos anywhere?
No. Everything happens entirely on your device using Apple's built-in Vision framework. Your photos never leave your iPhone.
How do I use Hearts Not Faces from the Photos app?
Open your Photos app, select a photo, tap the share button (the box with an arrow), then choose Hearts Not Faces from the list of apps. If you don't see it, scroll the app row and tap More to find it.
Can I change the face hiding style?
Yes. Open Hearts Not Faces, tap About & Privacy at the bottom of the screen, and you'll find the Face hiding style setting where you can switch between Heart and Mosaic.
Can I turn off location data stripping?
Yes. In the About & Privacy screen, toggle off Remove location data. By default this is on — we recommend leaving it enabled for maximum privacy.
Does this work with videos?
Not yet — Hearts Not Faces currently works with photos only. Video support is on the roadmap.
Does this work with WhatsApp or iMessage?
Hearts Not Faces protects photos when you share through the iOS share sheet. If you send the original unprotected photo through WhatsApp or iMessage directly, the original is transmitted. For full protection, run photos through Hearts Not Faces first and share the protected version.
